A non-profit, voluntary, generalist centre with a range of functions including an information and referral service.
The services provided are flexible, meeting the needs of the community. Including room hire, service directory, computer training, legal advice option and emergency relief.
Community Place is open to ideas and proposals for new activities, which would meet community needs.

FREE LEGAL SERVICE
The aim of the free community legal services is to provide quality legal advice with an emphasis on access to justice for people who are socially and economically disadvantaged within the Gympie region. The services offer advice and referral only, and cannot provide legal representation. Each session is 15 minutes.

Health professionals service for women by women from 13 years onward including information, referral, counselling, support groups and short courses on health related issues.
Education and health promotion activities as well as pregnancy tests, contraceptive consultations, pap smears and sexual health checks.
The service has a lending library and independent access to a computer with internet for health information.

CYS Accommodation Project:
Emergency housing (13 weeks) and support for young homeless people 15 to 25 years.
CYS Young Women’s Network Program
Emergency housing (13 weeks) and support for young women 15 to 25 years and their accompanying children. Specialist support and information for young women including pregnancy and parenting support (pregnancy tests available).
Get Set For Work Program. GSFW is available to young people aged 15-17 who are not in full-time education or employment. Assistance is available with job readiness skills, work experience, training & education. For more information call Cynthia or Donna on 54826188.
Support Groups. “The Doo” – meets weekly on Tuesdays at 12 noon upstairs at the Youth Service. Includes free healthy lunch, art & craft activities, outings etc. This group is available to young people aged 15-25 who are not attending school. For more info ring Janell on 54826188. “Young Mum’s Group” – meets weekly on Thursdays at 1.30pm at the HUB (cnr O’Connell & Palatine Sts Gympie – the old Central Preschool Building). This group is available to young Mum’s aged 15-25 and their children. The group offers social activities, play-time with children, information sessions and support. Afternoon tea is provided. Outings & Other Events: Drug Action Week Activities: 21st – 27th June. CYS is hosting a free sausage sizzle on Tuesday the 23rd from 11am to mid-afternoon at the office. Dreamworld Trip – ‘The Natural High’ – Wednesday 24th June leaving at 7am and returning 8pm for young people aged 15-25 (not at school). Cost is $25. Seats are limited so please register and pay as soon as possible at the office.

Sunshine Cooloola Services Against Sexual Violence Inc
Provides counselling for women, children, and young people (including males to the age of 17 years), who have experienced recent or past sexual assault. Counselling is available for non-offending supporters of people who have experienced sexual assault. Also provides family counselling as well as counselling for children up to 12 years of age who display sexualised behaviour.
